Mission and Vision
To create a county where people from different ethnic backgrounds, cultures and faiths have equal life
chances and live in mutual respect.
Our Mission Statement
PDREC believes that to build a fair and just society everyone must have an equal chance to live, work and learn free from prejudice, discrimination and racism. It values diversity and works in partnership with individuals and organisations that are also committed to race equality.
Purposes and aims
Our charity's purposes as set out in the objects contained in the company's memorandum of association are:
- To work towards the elimination of racial discrimination; and
- To promote equality of opportunity, and good relations, between persons of different racial groups.
The aims of our charity are to reduce the levels of racial discrimination and harassment within the county of Devon (including Plymouth, Exeter and Torbay) and to educate the wider population on issues around racism and prejudice.
In 2012/13 we commissioned a full service review, culminating in an update of key policy/procedures, along with a report and recommendations. The PDREC is currently achieving PQASSO quality standard to level 2, along with some of level 3 requirements, which we will strive to maintain. We are currently in process of creating an action plan with staff and board of trustee to improve our systems and work toward achieving level 3.
